Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Glenwood, Washington, has cooperative agriculture opportunities for haying on 19 units, totaling up to 1,553 acres, in Klickitat County for up to five years. Haying will be focused on managing existing non-native reed canarygrass stands for habitat management, and no seeding or other productivity improvements will be allowed.
Hay units range in size from 23.9 to 260.2 acres, although the acreage hayed annually varies based on site conditions and the extent of reed canarygrass stands. Because of this variability, bids will be based on cost per ton instead of cost per acre. The minimum bid will be set at $10.00 per ton.
