Newly constructed fish barrier in Arizona

A large concrete dam spans a creek, with water flowing over the top and down a smooth spillway into a rocky section below. The structure is built into bedrock on one bank and into a steep forested section on the other bank. A pine forest surrounds the structure and creek.

Newly constructed fish barrier on Big Bonito Creek in Arizona, built downstream of the original deteriorated structure that has since been removed. The new barrier is designed to prevent nonnative trout from moving upstream into Apache trout habitat.
